Natalie Gauci, the 26-year-old Maltese descendant who won Australian Idol – the most coveted song contest down under – is in talks with MaltaSong representatives to give a performance on January 26, the final night of the Malta Song for Europe contest.

Natalie won Australian Idol on November 25 when she beat bookies' favourite Matt Corby, and has since been signed by one of the major record labels – Sony BMG. She also released her first single, Here I Am, which made it to second place in the Australian singles chart after just three days.

Her album, Natalie Gauci: The Winner’s Journey was released on December 8. Samples of the tracks of her album are available at: http://www.timesofmalta.com/nataliegauci

Natalie is currently on a national tour and she told timesofmalta.com that she’s “getting better with every gig performed”.

She is the daughter of Ray, originally form Marsa, and an Italian mother Teresa, who run the Golden Tower Restaurant in Swanston Street, Melbourne. She is the eldest of three siblings, the others being Elizabeth, 23, and Michael, 22, who is touring with her.

timesofmalta.com interviewed Natalie Gauci soon after she won Australian Idol and has been involved in the talks for her to perform in Malta.
