Car of the Year Fiat 500 is to be officially launched in Malta at the Juventus vs. Malta match at the National Stadium in Ta' Qali on Wednesday, local agents UCIM Co announced last week.

The event will not only be a great opportunity for the Maltese public to watch international football stars like Buffon, Del Piero, Trezeguet and Nedved in action in Malta, but also watch the unveiling of the successor of a car that played a huge part in Italian history. The Fiat 500 was first presented 50 years ago, and became an instant success.

With over 3,893,294 cars sold, the 500 was the best-selling Fiat of those times, and was an integral part of the process to turn Italy into a modern industrialised country. The 500 not only set a benchmark for city cars, but was also an icon for the country and the world.

The new model is set to be an example for everyone to follow, with unrivalled safety levels - the model is the first car of its size to win a five-star rating in the EURO NCAP ratings - eco-friendly yet potent EURO Five engines, preceding European legislation by two years. An infinite number of trim levels are available and the 500 will be full of important extras as standard.

The new Fiat 500 will be presented before the match by a special 'guest', just after a varied programme.

For more information or to book a test drive visit the Fiat showroom in Psaila Street, Birkirkara, www.fiat.com.mt or call 2382 3100.
