Air Malta and the Airline Pilots' Association should be striking a deal today after weeks of lengthy talks over a new collective agreement.
Association president James Fenech and Air Malta chief officer of flight operations Lawrence Gatt both confirmed that they were seeing eye to eye and were last night ironing a couple of details, which should be resolved by today.
The two sides were in marathon talks in a bid to finalise a number of points listed in a 151-page draft collective agreement.
Pilots had long been complaining of low salaries and poor working conditions and were even threatening to strike if the talks reached a deadlock. The airline had felt pilots' requests were unreasonable.
