St Bernadette Primary B School, San Ġwann, has built a 20ft-high Christmas tree out of 20,000 used lastic bottles to send out an eco message that bottles that would have been thrown away have been turned into a beautiful tree.

The pupils have been working on building the tree over the past two weeks on a design by Joseph Barbara and with the help and support of the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment, the Ekoskola co-ordinator and Mr Barbara himself.

After Christmas, the tree will be donated to the Ta' Qali Fun Park for all to enjoy, school head, Mary Rose DeBono, said.
