Technical language (3)

I express sympathy with the views of both Joseph Vella of California (Linguistic Gymnastics, December 12) and Joe Borg of Xghajra (Limits On Linguistics, December 17) concerning the translations of technical terms into Maltese by the academia of this country.

I also wish to draw attention to the letter of Maria Ferstl of Thessaloniki Greece (Neoplastic Pitfalls December 13) that appears to have a bearing on this subject. Those Maltese who prefer to employ Malta's other language are condemned by Ms Firstl when she uses the expression Anglomania that Webster's dictionary defines as a psychiatric condition.

The Language Problem continues to beset Malta even if the actual languages involved change. As a typical, essentially monoglottal Englishman, I can visualise a solution but there is no way I dare forward it.
