The motto (anthem?) adopted by the Labour Party comes a bit too late.

We have had governments with vision and direction in the past but few can boast to have created the right environment for so many to be able to find the opportunity to work, study and prosper as we have seen in the past 10 years.

Schemes set up for tax incentives and financial assistance, including the many launched by Malta Enterprise, have helped quite a few, whatever their colour or creed.

Notwithstanding the turbulent global and European environment, Malta has not fared badly at all. Just a few kilometres north of us, in Italy, over 200,000 have lost their job over the last year and over one in four small enterprises have closed down.

Of course, we would all have been much happier had the Nationalist Administration done everything perfectly but I would really like to meet someone who can.

So, once again, despite having all the time in the world, the Labour Party arrived late with the aim of doing what the Nationalist Party in government has been striving to achieve, and has been achieving, since 1987. That is why some serious thinking must be made by the electorate before March 9.
