Labour committed to democracy, social justice

The Labour Party is committed to take on the challenge of change the Maltese and the Gozitans are calling for, Labour leader Alfred Sant said during a ceremony at Marsa commemorating Republic Day yesterday.

The majority of the people wanted change and the Labour Party is working for that change to come about by affirming its committment to democracy, social justice and dignity, Dr Sant said.

The policy of change Labour believed in would continue to strengthen the party's interest in safeguarding the people's quality of life. This would be done through an economic policy based on optimism and the people's ability to overcome problems and by creating more jobs.

The Labour Party was also committed to strengthening education and health services while safeguarding the environment.

Republic Day was also commemorated by Azzjoni Nazzjonali.
