Higher fees for US visa applications

The US Embassy has announced a world-wide Increase in fees for non-immigrant visas.

Effective January 1, 2008 the application fee for a non-immigrant visa (NIV) will increase from $100 to $131.

"This increase, which is being implemented worldwide, is the first since October 2002 and will ensure that sufficient resources are available to meet the increased costs of processing NIV applications" the embassy said.

Applicants requesting a non-immigrant visa at the U.S. Embassy in Floriana after January 31, 2008 will be required to present a paid receipt(s) from Bank of Valletta for the euro equivalent of $131. For the month of January 2008 only, BOV receipts issued in 2007 based on the previous fee of $100 will be accepted.
