Alternattiva Demokratika said tonight that it strongly condemned the actions of a few cowardly people who are reported to be distributing printed messages inciting violence and hatred in the vicinity of the Open Centre for immigrants in Marsa.

AD deputy chairman Stephen Cachia said: "Anyone in his right mind expects all issues, especially sensitive issues such as that of asylum seekers and immigrants to be discussed in a mature, calm manner and that things are put into perspective. Some people who probably consider themselves ‘superior', prefer spreading rumours, blowing things out of proportion and resorting to cowardly tactics such as distributing flyers which resort to the most basic instinct, that of fear."

Alternattiva Demokratika Zghazagh - Green Youth's Mary Anne Zammit added:'I only hope that especially since we're so near to Christmas, most people understand and feel compassion for those individuals whose fate was not as fortunate as ours.'

Alternattiva Demokratika called on the authorities to remain vigilant against such cowardly acts.
