Maltese teacher wins e-learning award

Emanuel Zammit has won the Young Digital Planet Platinum Award for the best use of ICT in education at the 2007 European eLearning Awards held in Brussels.

The Maltese entry for the seventh edition of the event was entitled Rescue La Vallette - An Adventure In Time. It won the top award.

Mr Zammit, who has just been appointed assistant head at the Gzira Primary School, is the brains behind a project based on teaching the basic skills of the European Computer Driving Licence through an online interactive game.

The award includes a €3,000 (Lm1,287) cash prize and a Smart classroom technology package donated by Smart technologies.

There were 564 submissions from all over Europe that were full of good practices and innovative pedagogical ideas. These were short-listed to 100 from which the Maltese entry was picked as the winner.
