The President's wife, Mary Fenech Adami, left for the UK yesterday where she will be visiting Maltese patients recovering in hospitals.

Ms Fenech Adami is the vice chairman of the Malta Community Chest Fund, which provides special medicine to patients suffering serious ailments.

The fund, which is financed mainly through the annual l-Istrina event, also assists accompanying relatives.

She is expected back in Malta on Thursday.
