Pumpkins please

Students in Year 6.5, at St Paul's Bay Primary School, used Halloween's pumpkins to liven up some lessons

We think their ideas are fun for any winter day so here they are.

Pumpkin soup

On October 29, we made pumpkin soup in class. It was very good. First the teacher got two pumpkins, then we scooped out the pumpkin pulp.

We all took turns to put the pumpkin pulp into the pot. Ms Carmen and Julian, from Year 6.3 came to help us.

This is how we made the soup.

First you chop up some onion and put it into the pot with a little boiling water. Then you add the pumpkin pulp and add vegetable stock. Next you add a chopped up potato. Let the soup boil fro about 20 minutes. Then you add some milk. Just before serving the soup, add some fresh cream.

Try it. It's delicious!

The great pumpkin

For Halloween I made a pumpkin lantern at school. These are the four things that were done.

a) We scooped out the pump from the pumpkin.

b) with a black marker we drew shark teeth on it.

c) Then we drew the eyes and the nose.

d) We cut the shapes out carefully with a knife, while the pumpkin was held securely by our teacher.

These are the things we did to make a Halloween pumpkin. Finally, we lit a candle and put it in the pumpkin. We went around the school and showed it to everyone.
