Updated: Man in danger of dying after fireworks accident

Second Zurrieq explosion casualty dies

A man is in danger of dying after an accident at Lija fireworks factory this afternoon. The police said the incident happened at around 2.40 p.m.

The man, Anthony Farrugia, 51 from Lija,  was alone at the time.

He was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital where he was found to be in critical condition.

Meanwhile the police have confirmed that Alfred Cassar, 46, injured on November 15 in an explosion at St Catherine Fireworks Factory in Zurrieq has now died. A colleague, Zaren Barbara, had died on the spot.
