Six volunteers involved in the local President's Award scheme are here seen near Paradise Bay Hotel where they recently attended a three-day 'Train the Trainers' course to create a panel of qualified trainers to support the Award in Malta.

During the course Jana Farrugia and Yiannos Papaioannou from the European, Mediterranean and Arab states (EMAS) region of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award International Association covered various training methods and techniques and Colin Calleja from Let me Learn - Malta delivered a presentation on the science of training. Participants also undertook practical training in the power and effectiveness of teamwork and preparation.

The President's Award offers a voluntary programme of activities to young people aged between 14 and 25. It is run in various schools and organisations in Malta and Gozo, including St Aloysius College, San Andrea School, the Scouts Association, and the Girl Guides Association.
