Vodafone names new division heads

Vodafone Malta recently named Joseph Muscat head of Mobile Plus, Sandro Pisani head of technology, and Joseph Cuschieri head of consumer business.

Mr Muscat, who was Vodafone Malta's chief technology officer until recently, joined Vodafone Malta in 1990 as engineering and operations manager. He is a graduate in electrical engineering from the University of Malta, a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers of UK. He holds a Master's degree in Business Management from Anglia Polytechnic University and has held management positions with Air Malta and STMicroelectronics.

He has served for several years as a member of the Malta Engineering Board and is also a member of Vodafone's board of directors. In his new role, he will be responsible for mobile virtual network operators, WiMax, business intelligence, the bandwidth business, roaming, strategy and mobile advertising.

Mr Pisani obtained his electrical engineering degree and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Malta. After working for STMicroelectronics Malta for some time, in 1995 he moved to Michigan, to take up a post with STMicroelectronics Automotive Business Unit. In 1999, he returned to Malta and after a short spell with STMicroelectronics, in 2001 he joined Vodafone Malta as quality manager. He will now be responsible for the company's technology operations, including network performance and IT in his new role as head of technology.

Mr Cuschieri is a fellow member of the Malta Institute of Accountants and holds a Certified Public Accountant warrant and an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK). He graduated with a Master's in Business Administration from Henley Management College and is currently reading for a Doctorate in Business Administration specialising in Strategic Focus from the Edinburgh Business School.

His experience in the communications industry began when he joined the Malta Communications Authority in March 2001 as chief operations officer. In October 2005, he joined Vodafone Malta Ltd as head of legal, regulatory and corporate affairs. In his new role Mr Cuschieri will be responsible for brand, distribution channels, customer operations and consumer marketing and sales.
