Controlling risks at the workplace

The Foundation for Human Resources Development in partnership with the Institute of Health and Safety Ltd, is holding a course 'Controlling risks in the workplace', part of its Continuous Professional Development programme, tomorrow, between 9 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. at the FHRD premises in San Ġwann.

The course will cover recognising, evaluating, and controlling risk activities, essential for every employer; the role of risk assessment in the identification and evaluation of workplace risks.

The course focuses on control of risk, and is designed to help delegates develop the ability to approach the subject in a structured, logical and cost-effective manner to achieve adequate control at a minimum cost to employers.

Upon completion, participants should be able to understand the legal and practical reasons for risk assessment and the benefits that arise from them; understand the basic principles of risk assessment; understand and apply the hierarchy of risk control; and understand and apply the concept of cost-benefit analysis in risk control.

The course is targeted at all working people, particularly those with an interest in the control of risk, and those who expected to make an active contribution to health and safety at the workplace.

Chris Hudson will conduct the course. FHRD members pay Lm20. Non-members pay Lm30. Cheques are to be made payable to the Institute of Health and Safety and sent to the institute at Martin Court, University Street, Msida. For bookings or a registration form, click http://www.fhrd.org/OHSRegistrationForm.pdf.

The course will be delivered in English.
