Air Malta was forced to cancel a flight to Sofia today because of freezing fog.

The airline said Flight KM 784/5, Malta - Istanbul - Sofia - left Malta early this morning. After a number of hours waiting in Istanbul for the fog to clear at Sofia airport  the captain decided not to operate  the Istanbul-Sofia sector . The plane therefore returned to Malta this afternoon.

The airline said it is doing its best to assist the passengers on this flight  and the passengers who were scheduled to depart from Sofia to Malta.

"Air Malta gives utmost importance to the safety and well-being of its clients and staff and is sparing no effort to minimise the inconvenience to passengers and to reduce the extent of the delay. The airline regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers due to circumstances beyond its control" Air Malta said.
