Brincat's best wishes to Frendo

Labour foreign affairs spokesman Leo Brincat has wished Foreign Minister Michael Frendo well - on behalf of the opposition and personally - in his bid to be elected to the post of secretary general of the Commonwealth.

The contest is expected to be decided on Saturday at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) being held in Uganda.

Mr Brincat said Dr Frendo had the necessary credentials to occupy this prestigious post.

If elected, Dr Frendo would not only honour Malta but would strengthen its profile within the Commonwealth and the international community, Mr Brincat added.
