Go is extending its full support to the fund-raising campaign L-Istrina being held on December 30, the company said.

The telecoms company will shortly start installing a state-of-the-art phone-in system at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre at Ta' Qali - the venue for L-Istrina.

This system will enable members of the public to pledge their donations via telephone.

The company will supply about 150 telephone lines and provide back-up technical staff.

Another 50 lines will be reserved for coordination of the varied programmes drawn up for the fund-raising marathon.

Apart from being the official telecoms provider of L-Istrina, the telephone company will waive call charges and other fees connected with donations made by phone.

Besides providing man hours to the tune of Lm3,000 for free to L-Istrina to ensure that the various systems were in place, Go had, last year, waived close to Lm12,000 in call charges - a sum that was donated to L-Istrina earlier this week.

This amount was topped up by an additional Lm4,000 presented by company chairman Sonny Portelli during L- Istrina last year.
