Murder trial: Accused found to have acted in 'excessive self-defence'
Six month jail term suspended for two years
Raymond Camilleri, 43 of Zurrieq was tonight given a six month jail term suspended for two years after being found guilty by a jury of having murdered Christopher Camilleri at Zurrieq on October 6,1999.
The jurors in their 6-3 verdict found however that his actions were excusable by the fact that he had acted in excessive self-defence driven by fear.
He was also found guilty of possession of a firearm.
The judgement was handed down by Mr Justice Giannino Caruana Demajo who had presided the trial.
