A walkathon from Manoel Island to St Julian's organised recently by MT Style Clinic in aid of Għabex, the shelter for victims of violence run by Appoġġ, proved to be a huge success with over a hundred participants from all walks of life coming together for a good cause.

Just under Lm2,000 was raised for Għabex. This money will go towards a much-needed kitchen and bedroom furniture, among a host of other requirements, to make life better. Personalities attending the walk, supported by the Vodafone Malta Foundation, included Valerie Vella, Claudette Pace, Josette Grech Hamilton, Miriam Dalli, Andrea Cassar, Moira Delia, Ivan Grech, Ira Losco, organisers Francesca Rizzo and Nirvana Azzopardi, and Joe Gerada, CEO of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services. Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech and Labour MP Marie Louise Coleiro Preca met with the participants before the walk. Vodafone staff and a number of mayors and councillors also participated.

Various other companies, including Farsons, Vogue quality printers and Alfie's hair and beauty salon, supported the walk, making it possible for the organisers to donate a greater sum of money.
