Ronald McDonald and a giant bumblebee flitted through the McDonald's restaurant in Valletta yesterday entertaining children and raising money for The Eden Foundation.

Throughout its eight restaurants across Malta and Gozo, McDonald's celebrated World Children's Day with entertainment activities throughout the day.

Tania Kasap, Valletta restaurant manager, said this was the fifth consecutive year that McDonald's in Malta was organising this event. Last year it had managed to raise close to Lm10,000 (€23,294) for the foundation and over Lm30,000 (€69,881) in the past four years.

The Maltese event forms part of McDonald's annual global fund-raiser for children, which is celebrated in more than 100 countries, to support children's causes in the individual countries.
