On a positive note
I am Neil Mackenzie, and wish to immediately make it clear that this is not a letter of complaint.
I recently bought a (very old) computer from a local charity shop which, although fully working, needed an additional cable. I went to Centric Computers (84 Church Street, St Paul's Bay) because I have always found them very helpful.
Mrs Zammit, I think she is the owner, said she could try to get the cable, but would I care to contact S.G. Solutions, as they are the main Apple dealers on the island? She gave me the telephone number, and hence made no profit from this particular enquiry.
However, she kept a fairly regular customer happy, and ensured that I would continue shopping there.
Subsequently I called S.G Solutions (Gasan Centre, Mrieħel Bypass, Mrieħel) and I was dealt with very courteously by all the staff. I had their names, but being in the process of moving, I misplaced the note in question.
Suffice to say that, even though the first couple of people could not help (the part required having been redundant for at least five years) I was put through to (I think) their own support manager, who said he would have a look in their stores and promised he would phone me back. Being accustomed to British promises to call back I thought that it would be the end of it. Imagine my surprise when, about two hours later, he returned my call and said the part would be waiting for me at their sales desk whenever I could call in. Total cost? Just Lm2.
Through your column, I would like to express my gratitude to all concerned at Centric Computers and S.G. Solutions for a job well done. (N.F. Mackenzie)
While thanking Mr Mackenzie for this letter I extend my compliments to all concerned at Centric Computers and S.G. Solutions.
