The Accident and Emergency Department will open at Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 6am and there will be no admissions to the St. Luke's Hospital Emergency Department after 6am tomorrow, Mater Dei Hospital said.
All maternity and gynaecology emergency cases should refer to Mater Dei from Monday at 6am. Gynaecology and maternity emergency cases should use the Day Care Unit entrance on the University side for all hours.
Meanwhile, migration to the new hospital continued smoothly today. A total of 53 patients, including six who were in ITU, were transferred from St. Luke's to Mater Dei on the sixth day of in-patient migration.
The migrating in-patients were transferred to 18 Mater Dei wards/departments: ITU, Cardiac Medical Ward, Cardiac Surgical Ward, ENT, Medical Ward 1, Medical Ward 2, Medical Ward 3, Medical Ward 4, Medical Ward 5, Medical Ward 6, Neuromedical Ward, Orthopaedic Ward 1, Orthopaedic Ward 2, Opthalmic Ward, Surgical Ward 1, Surgical Ward 2, Surgical Ward 4 and Surgical Ward 5.
The total in-patient population at Mater Dei has now reached 216.
