Arnold Cassola, the Green, Maltese MP in the Italian Parliament, met Romanian Internal Affairs Minister Cristian David at a meeting which discussed financial crime.

Prof Cassola and Mr David agreed that EU member states have the right to restrict  the freedom of movement and of residence of EU citizens in case of threats to public order, security and public health.

They also agreed that the concept of  "public security" must be defined in a transparent and clear way so that there is less room for regional interpretation of the concept.

Moreover they agreed that any expulsions must be solely based upon the individual's personal behaviour and not upon the individual's place of origin.

Prof Cassola also took part in the electoral campaign of the Romanian Green Party. He encouraged Romanians who live in Italy to vote for the Romanian Green Party during the European Parliament Elections which will be held on November 25.
