Rosalie Aquilina has won the second Bank of Valletta Prize in Medicine for excelling in the final qualifying exams in medicine at the University of Malta.
Dr Aquilina obtained the highest composite marks in two examination papers and a clinical examination.
Dr Aquilina received the prize from Michael Galea, head at the CEO's Office at Bank of Valletta in the presence of Joseph Cacciottolo, head of the Department of Medicine at the University of Malta Medical School.
"The BOV Prize in Medicine seeks to reward academic excellence," Mr Galea said on presenting the award.
The award was instituted last year under the Education Pillar of the Bank's Community Programme.
Dr Aquilina's track record over her medical student years was consistent and her performance in the clinical examination was exemplary, earning her the highest marks.
She was assessed by 12 examiners including two external examiners - George Kitas of the University of Birmingham and Gareth Williams of the University of Bristol.
