The Peugeot League got underway last weekend with Luxol enjoying an easy outing against St James Hospital while Kerygma came from behind to pip Sliema Wanderers.
Sliema and Kerygma set up an exciting and tense finale in the opening game. At the end of a balanced first quarter, Sliema, who had Francesca Farrugia and Leanne Calleja missing, were leading 13-9.
Sliema remained on top in the second session to widen their cushion to eight points, 24-16, at half-time.
After the break, Kerygma raised their game and overturned the deficit, 35-32, but Sliema bounced back to edge 36-35 ahead.

Sliema's reaction brought them to within a point of their opponents but they lost possession, allowing Kerygma to hold on to their slender lead in the remaining seconds.
In the other match, Mandy Sciortino caught the eye with a fine individual performance as Luxol trounced St James Hospital 73-16. Luxol had the game sewn up in the first two sessions as they were 36-7 ahead by half-time.
