Chairman's select prevail in 20/20 match

On Saturday, The Captain's select team took on the Chairman's select in a friendly 20/20 game of cricket, being warm-up games for the upcoming Winter League.

The Captain's team won the toss and elected to bat.

Ronnie Sacco and Mike O'Meara opened the batting. O'Meara was first out being bowled by a humdinger of a delivery from Ali Malik. He managed five runs before being bowled, including a boundary.

Sacco was next to go. He was scoring freely and had already scored four 4s when he tried to hit a six and was well caught by Nowell Khosla on the boundary.

Mike Caruana also started off well and was caught by Mark G. Sacco who had to run a couple of metres to take the catch. Caruana made 18 runs including two fours. Faraaz soon followed, being lbw for three runs.

Javed Shah top-scored with 53 runs including seven fours. Sam Aquilina scored two fours in his knock of 24 runs. The Captain's team totaled 147 runs from their allotted overs. For the Chairman's team Ali Malik and Rizwan Malik both took two wickets each.

A tremendous opening partnership from Khosla and Sacco wrapped up the game. They accumulated a 112- run partnership, Khosla scoring 74 runs including five fours while Sacco had 35 including two fours. Malik scored 21 runs not out and Rizwan Malik six runs not out.

The second friendly will take place on Saturday, starting at 12.30 p.m. In the morning the nursery/academy will be from 9.30 till 11.30 a.m.
