A motorcyclist who suffered severe disability following a traffic accident last year and a woman who owns the motorcycle involved in the incident have filed a judicial protest in the First Hall of the Civil Court claiming the incident was caused by the state of the road and demanding compensation.

Christian Muscat, who was driving the motorcycle, and Claire Said, the owner, filed their protest against the Malta Transport Authority, Attard Local Council and Alfred Schembri and Sons Limited.

Mr Muscat explained that he was riding the motorcycle in Mdina Road in the evening on November 3, 2006 close to the entrance to Mount Carmel Hospital. At the time, work on the development of a new petrol station was under way. He said that he crashed into a central strip that was not there before. No warning lights were installed to make drivers aware of the new surroundings, he claimed.

Lawyer Edward Gatt signed the writ.
