Prof. Anthony Serracino-Inglott, head of the University's Department of Pharmacy, has been appointed president of the Scientific Committee of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP)'s 2008 Clinical Pharmacy Conference, to be held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, in October.

His appointment was announced during the 2007 ESCP annual Clinical Pharmacy Conference held in Istanbul last month. During the 2007 ESCP conference, research work carried out by Professor Lilian M. Azzopardi, Dr Maurice Zarb Adami, Prof. Serracino-Inglott and their graduate and undergraduate students was presented in the areas of pain management, validation of pharmacy services and point-of-care testing.

Prof. Azzopardi, who is the ESCP newsletter co-ordinator, chaired a scientific session on implementing clinical pharmacy in community and hospital settings: sharing the experience.

Recently, Prof. Serracino-Inglott addressed the 2007 World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, in Beijing, on the subject 'From Anecdote to Evidence - Pharmacists Helping Patients make the Best Use of Medicines'.

Dr Zarb Adami presented a paper on 'Trends in Pharmacy Education' during the 2007 conference of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy (EAFP) held in Madrid.
