A man and a woman were yesterday charged with theft and slightly injuring a woman.

Joseph Farrugia, 55, of Balzan and Rita Agius, 50, of Kalkara pleaded not guilty to stealing cash and mobile phone top-up cards from a Hamrun lotto booth on Wednesday.

They were also charged with holding a woman against her will, being in possession of a fire arm and slightly injuring the woman.

Mr Farrugia was also charged with holding up a Birkirkara lotto booth on September 18 and both were charged with relapsing.

Magistrate Edwina Grima ordered that Mr Farrugia and Ms Agius be remanded in custody.

Police Inspectors Joseph Mercieca and Anthony Agius prosecuted.
