National coach Damian Neill yesterday finalised his squad for the forthcoming FIRA European Nations Cup, Division 2B qualifiers.

On Saturday, Malta play Croatia away in Makarska at 3 p.m. before a home match to Latvia at the Hibs Ground on November 17.

The squad, which includes six players from the local rugby league, is currently on a week-long training camp in the UK. They fly out to Zagreb on Friday.

Champions Stompers have Leonard Mifsud, Malcolm Attard and Matthew Mirabelli in the group. Kavallieri are represented by David Borg and Ian Borda.

The other Malta-based national team player is Daryl Psaila, of Overseas.

Justin Bugeja, of Liverpool John Moores, and James Bartolo, of Edinburgh Academicals, have earned their first call-up.

So far, the Maltese played four matches in Division 2B, winning one (vs Andorra 31-24 at home) and losing the other three. The national team are bottom in a five-team group with six points.

Current standings: Poland (16 points - 6 matches); Latvia (10-4); Croatia (9-5); Andorra (7-5); Malta (6-4).
