Ailing Sabo: Dynamo Kiev coach Jozef Sabo, who has been plagued by cardiac problems, has gone on permanent leave and is to be replaced by his assistant Oleg Luzhniy (ex-Arsenal), the club announced on its website yesterday. Sabo took over as Dynamo coach in September after Anatoly Demyanenko stepped down in response to the club's poor performance in the Champions League. He had coached the club through the 1990s and again in 2004-2005 and had also played for Dynamo, Ukraine's most celebrated club, in the 1960s. Dynamo Kiev are without a point from three games in the Champions League and face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Robinson: Sporting director Damien Comolli said Paul Robinson's position at Tottenham will not be affected by his comments following the infamous meeting between club officials and Juande Ramos at the start of the season. Robinson spoke of his disappointment at how Martin Jol had been undermined in the first week of the campaign when details of the meeting emerged. "To suggest that Paul would be transfer-listed for something he said and that he has fallen out with the chairman as a result is utter nonsense," Comolli said.

Bundesliga: Karlsruhe SC moved back up to fourth place in the Bundesliga with a 1-0 win at home to Duisburg yesterday. Karlsruhe, newly promoted from the second division, extended their excellent start to the new season, sealing victory with a headed goal from Swiss defender Mario Eggimann in the 29th minute. In yesterday's other match Bochum won a 5-3 thriller at home to VfL Wolfsburg.

Scottish Premier: Hibernian fought out a 1-1 draw with Hearts in a pulsating Edinburgh derby in the Scottish Premier League yesterday. Hibs took a first-half lead when Rob Jones stabbed in a close range shot which took a deflection off defender Christophe Berra following a corner by winger Filipe Morais on 18 minutes. Hearts levelled 46 seconds into the second half with another untidy goal when French striker Christian Nade used his knee to bundle the ball into the net. Hibs moved into third place.

Fabregas: Cesc Fabregas said Arsenal have both the heart and the legs to mount a sustained assault on the Premier League title this season. "Everyone could see that we are a team which fights until the last second," Fabregas declared. "Even if the opposition scores, we have to show our qualities, which are to play football, try to create chances and that's what we did against Man. United until the last second."

Ligue 1: Played yesterday - Caen vs Le Mans 3-2; Toulouse vs Metz 0-0; Lens vs St Etienne 3-2. Leading standings: Lyon 31; Nancy 27; Stade Rennes 24; Bordeaux 22; Le Mans 20; Strasbourg, Nice 19.
