Air Malta has announced that Alitalia Servizi will be taking over the handling of the airline's flights at London's Heathrow Airport.

"The contract, which commenced yesterday, is expected to yield visible benefits and a better quality product to Air Malta's customers in terms of ground services for the airline's flights at the airport," said the airline.

Air Malta operates two daily flights into and out of London's prime airport. It will still fly to/from Terminal 4 but check-in desks will now be moved to Zone A - desks 7, 8 and 9.

Air Malta Club Class customers and Flypass members entitled to use the VIP Holideck lounge may continue to avail themselves of the lounge facilities. Air Malta's ticket sales desk will still operate from Zone D at the airport.
