Richard Flattley, 56, was jailed for 18-months after he admitted to stealing a cheque book, making use of it and defrauding several companies of over Lm1,000 in total.
Mr Flattley, of Swieqi, also admitted to damaging the car from where he stole the cheque book, stealing another car's registration plates and relapsing in October 2005. He was, however, cleared of forging cheques when Magistrate Lawrence Quintano noted that the cheques were signed by the owner when they were stolen and, therefore, Mr Flattley had not forged them.
Police Inspector Kevin Borg prosecuted.
