Malta Freeport - Shireburn produced an interface between the shipping lines and Navis, the Freeport's terminal operation system. Electronic shipping documentation relating to incoming vessels are automatically processed, updating the documentation workflow system as well as the Freeport's back-end operations system.
This allows improved information flows, better planning and increases in vessel throughputs. The relevant records are also archived for up to nine years.
According to Tonio Azzopardi, senior systems administrator at Malta Freeport Terminals Ltd: "We work very closely with the Shireburn team, who have exceptional knowledge of the shipping industry because of their penetration there.
This ensures we are aligned with the changes and systems across the industry, making our environment future proof (and) ensuring Malta's position as a hub for the foreseeable future."
