Nigeria and Tunisia will be among the top seeds in the African Nations Cup first round groups with hosts Ghana and holders Egypt for next January's tournament, Confederation of African Football officials said yesterday.
The draw for the 2008 tournament will be made in Accra today.
Four-time winners Cameroon head the list in the second tier of seeds along with Ivory Coast, Morocco and Senegal while the third tier is made up of Guinea, Mali, South Africa and Zambia. The last tier compromises Angola, Benin, Namibia and Sudan, who return to the Nations Cup finals after more than three decades of failing to qualify.
One team from each tier will be allocated in a group. Hosts Ghana will be in Group A, to be based in the capital Accra, while Egypt will be at the head of Group C in Kumasi.
The seedings are determined by past African Nations Cup finals performances.
