A magistrate has asked police to initiate criminal libel proceedings against the editor of The Malta Independent on Sunday over a front page article published last Sunday.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona sent a formal letter to the Police Commissioner requesting the proceedings be filed - in terms of the Press Act - against editor Noel Grima for the content of an article entitled Government Investigation Into "Delays" At Gozo Court.

Lawyer Joe Mifsud signed the letter.
