A new day centre for senior citizens has been opened in Qormi.

The Parliamentary Secretary for the Elderly and Community Care, Helen D'Amato commented favourably about the cooperation between the Qormi local council and the government in bringing this project about.

Day centres, which were started in 1987, evolved from social centres where the elderly used to meet to socialise, to centres offering a variety of services including physio and occupational therapy. The centres teach handcrafts and other skills.
