Rehearsals are in full swing for the Celebrity Concert for Europe the Sliema Symphony Band will be holding at the Republic Hall of the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, on Sunday at 7 p.m.
Leading the performance is Bulgarian tenor Kaludi Kaludov who will interpret a selection of Italian classical songs and popular opera romanzas entitled Kaludi Canta l'Italia.
By special request, Mr Kaludov will perform Giuseppe Fenech's Ave Maria. The programme also includes four duettos he will sing with Maltese soprano Karen Camilleri.
Mr Kaludov has sung together with world famous artistes including Placido Domingo under the baton of famous maestros. He performed in operas in Berlin, Munich, Vienna, France, Belgium, London, Madrid, Helsinki, Tokyo, Brazil and Milan.
This will be the third concert with the Sliema band and his fourth visit to Malta.
In the early years of his career he had performed at the Manoel Theatre.
The concert will also feature tuba player Paul Borg who will be the soloist in Edward Gregson's Tuba Concerto under the direction of Mro Ronnie Debattista.
Entrance is against a Lm3 donation.
