Young Stars 1
Pasta Poiatti Qormi 1

After last week's Super Cup win over Rabat Depiro, Qormi failed to produce that same kind of form which saw them outplay last year's champions. Young Stars seemed to be the more determined side but they lacked punch up front.

During the first half, play was restricted to midfield with both sides creating few scoring chances.

Qormi won their first short corner after seven minutes which ended up with a brilliant reaction save by Young Stars goalkeeper Waylin Abdilla off Philip Magri's reverse hit.

On 34 minutes, Qormi could have opened the score when good work between Magri and Joseph Cuschieri ended with the latter hitting just wide from a good position.

In the second half, Young Stars started well. After only two minutes, they won a short corner with Mark Camilleri bringing a fine stop from goalkeeper Ramon Chircop.

Young Stars kept pressing forward and in the 13th minute, they were awarded a penalty stroke for a foul on Edward Hughes by Qormi's Andre Ghio. Ivan Magro converted.

Qormi's reaction was immediate, and they surged forward in search of an equaliser. On 25 minutes, they missed a golden opportunity through youngster Julian Zahra who failed to make contact with the ball with only the goalkeeper to beat.

However, Qormi were not to be denied and on 28 minutes they won a free hit just inside the area, the ball was struck towards goal and Philip Magri was quick to scramble home.

Sliema Hotsticks 0
White Hart 4

Boosted by the return of David Agius, White Hart were off to a fine start after recording a comfortable victory over Sliema Hotsticks.

White Hart took just two minutes to surge ahead. From a short corner action, Simon Agius's hit was partially blocked and Carl Tua was on hand to flick in the rebound.

Sliema failed to respond and three minutes later David Agius's pinpointed pass found Tua who slapped in a first-time hit that left the Sliema goalkeeper helpless.

White Hart kept up the rhythm and on 25 minutes they added a third goal with a well-taken hit by Simon Agius.

After the interval, Sliema came more into the picture and White Hart goalkeeper Andrew Galea effected two fine saves on efforts by Sliema's Liam Pace.

On 23 minutes, Robert Bianchi denied Sliema a consolation goal when he cleared the ball off the line with Galea beaten.

In the 34th minute, White Hart were awarded a penalty but Luke Borg Costanzi's stroke came off the post.

However, just before the final whistle, Borg Costanzi made amends when scoring White Hart's fourth goal with a powerful hit.
