Provisional data for international trade show that the visible trade gap last August stood at Lm38.4 million, down by Lm14.1 million from the same month of last year, the National Statistics Office said yesterday.

There was a decline in both imports and exports of Lm15 million and Lm0.9 million respectively.

The NSO said the visible trade gap narrowed by Lm71.5 million to stand at Lm315.9 million in the first eight months of the year.

This came about because of a decrease of Lm41.2 million in imports during this period, while exports increased by Lm30.3 million over the same period last year.
