Malta was among 200 FIFA member countries at the fourth Women Football Symposium held recently in Shanghai, China. There were 500 delegates in the meeting, including Malta FA president Joe Mifsud and Alfred Zammit, women's football technical adviser to the MFA Board.

The symposium proved to be very useful in FIFA's strategy to further promote women's football on the world scene.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter brought the symposium to an end with a concluding speech which focused on the growing importance of women's football in all the continents against a vision of the future.

The event was held during the FIFA Women's World Cup which also had China hosting the competition. The US beat Norway 4-1 in the play-off for third place and Germany beat Brazil 2-0 in the final.
