Marsovin yesterday released its Grand Maître 2005, Annata Fra Jean L'Eveque De La Cassiere.

This is the Grand Maître's eighth vintage and comes from Marsovin's 13.2 tumoli Ghajn Rihana estate.

Grand Maître is dedicated to the grand masters of Malta by special appointment to the Maltese Association Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

Each vintage is dedicated to a different Grand Master in chronological order, the first one being Philippe Villiers de L'Isle Adam for the 1998 vintage.

The label has an embossed design, which includes the coat of arms of the Grand Master.

The estate, containing 10,000 vines of the French grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, is situated in the same area where the last Great Siege battle between the Knights of the Order of St John the Turks was fought in September 1565.

This year's harvest was again medium to low like the 2004 vintage, yielding 7,938 kilos.
