The President and Mrs Fenech Adami yesterday made an official visit to St Paul's Bay.

They heard Mass at the parish church and visited the local council, where Dr Fenech Adami described the seaside town as rich in environmental and historic treasures.

Mayor Paul Bugeja showed the President round the Xemxija Heritage Trail and Wignacourt Tower, the oldest coastal tower on the island, built in 1610.

Earlier, the President watched a training session at the Sirens Football Nursery and visited several NGOs, including the Socio-Cultural Association and St Paul Band Club.

Following Mass, Dr Fenech Adami met residents over coffee and cheeecakes on the church parvis.

Mrs Fenech Adami, accompanied by Antoinette Bugeja, the mayor's wive, visited residents at Casa Serena and at the Augustinian Sisters.

The President met other NGOs in St Paul's Bay on Wednesday, when he also visited the schools in the area.
