The National Archives has chosen the theme Archives: Bridging the Past and the Future for this year's Awareness Week running from October 22 to 27.

The week's highlights are the signing of an agreement with the Hill Monastic and Manuscript Library at St John's University in Minnesota for the digitisation of law court records starting from 1530, and an exhibition at the Gozo Archives Section entitled The Citadel: the Crown of Gozo between Thursday and November 3.

The theme of the Education Day and exhibition is "The Development of the Grand Harbour Facilities".

Students from Maria Regina Junior Lyceum, San Anton School, St Aloysius College, St Michael's College and St Theresa Girls Junior Lyceum will participate in a day-long workshop on the theme.

Students from Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School have been roped in to help prepare for the activity and co-ordinate the exhibition.

This year's annual public lecture will discuss the theme "Porta Reale and its Environs" and will be held at the Archives' head office in Rabat on October 25 at 6.30 p.m. The speaker will be architectural historian Michael Ellul.
