The direct bus service to and from the University was introduced last year and worked like clockwork but this year the bus routes were once again changed to make two more stops, namely at St Luke's Hospital and at Mater Dei Hospital.

This brought with it several problems, especially for University students. The bus passes through Fgura at approximately half past the hour and there is no way that the trip to University would be completed in half an hour so students would not be in time for lectures. There could be more passengers on the bus and students risk being stranded. That besides the traffic on the roads at this time of day.

The return trip from the University has become even more time-consuming - the trip to Fgura is now taking over 45 minutes. If this particular bus route is to be continued, the number of buses ought to be increased to cater for more people making use of it. Better still, the original direct bus system should be exclusive to students and for the people who wish to visit either hospital. The current bus No. 75 should be made available every hour and would stop at both St Luke's and Mater Dei. However, it is good that the direct bus continues to operate after 5 p.m.
