A fresh look to the IT&T fair is going to be introduced this year under a new name and in a new venue.
ITEX is the new brand and the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre is the new venue at Ta' Qali inside the fabric tension structure.
ITEX2007 is not going to be an exception because the organisers have confirmed that no less than nearly double the number of exhibitors that took part in the IT&T fair last year will be exhibiting their goods and services from October 25 to 28.
With so much going on in the field of ICT visitors to ITEX this year will witness a whole variety of products and services, all to be exhibited to the very highest standards, under one single roof. Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in competitions and win a price every hour, every day, the organisers said.
The Ministry of Industry, Investments, and Information Technology will take the opportunity to carry on with their commitment to transform Malta into an Information Technology excellence right in the heart of the Mediterranean reaching out to Europe and North Africa.
The major players in the field of internet, telephonic and cable television services are expected to leave no stone unturned to attract visitors to their stands.
Major ICT and related services companies will be displaying a formidable list of products found on the global market such as notebooks, desktops, peripherals, storage solutions, surveillance and security solutions, digital and video cameras, banking internet services, networking products, hand phones, cell phones, MP3 and MP4 players, LCD and plasma TV sets, printers, printer ink, games and consoles, wireless broadband access, projectors, bland media, home and mobile entertainment, digital lifestyle products, and multimedia.
This year recruitment and training services will play a big part. Call centres together with leading computer companies will be present to recruit staff, whereas training providers will assist potential candidates to register for the right courses provided by them.
With the forthcoming convergence and changeover to euro, euro counterfeit detectors, euro note and coin value counters together with euro ancillary software and other euro related products will be on display.
The banks' presence will further instigate the awareness for all and sundry to utilise internet banking facilities.
To encourage university and Mcast students to visit ITEX, a support has been provided by eWorld and 89.7 Bay in the form of competition that will see a student going home with a laptop .A LAN party will be organised together with console games tournaments aimed at keeping the younger generation occupied.
The organisers hopes that the Artificial Intelligence department of the Faculty of ICT at the University of Malta will receive the robots in time to be set, displayed and activated at ITEX.
