Some new olive trees have been planted in the local council garden in Vittoriosa. This goodwill gesture, however, seems to have been negated by the pruning, if you can call it that, of some other trees, most of which have been left with just a bare trunk.

I can appreciate that some trees may have been diseased but why leave a bare trunk? The council could have easily posted a notice on the gate to the garden explaining what was happening. Perhaps they will also take the opportunity of collecting the rubbish which litters what could be a beautiful grove and garden.
