Rugby - France at full strength

France will be at full strength for Saturday's World Cup semi-final against England at the Stade de France, team manager Jo Maso said. The only player in the squad who is not fully fit is scrumhalf Pierre Mignoni but he will be before the end of the week. Mignoni, who missed Saturday's 20-18 quarter-final win over favourites New Zealand in Cardiff because of a torn right thigh muscle, is France's second choice at scrumhalf behind Jean-Baptiste Elissalde.

Swimming - Club to sue Manaudou's father

The Italian swimming club which sacked Laure Manaudou in August said this week they were suing the world and Olympic champion's father and lawyer for defamation. LaPresse Nuoto of Turin said they were taking legal action against Jean-Luc Manaudou and Didier Poulmaire for "reiterated, false, defamatory statements given to the press". After the Frenchwoman's dismissal, Jean-Luc Manaudou said LaPresse Nuoto had pressured his daughter into signing a sponsorship deal with swimwear company Arena.

Racing - Fabled horse euthanised

Race horse John Henry, who won $6.6 million during his record-breaking career, was euthanised in Kentucky, on Monday at age 32, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported. The gelding, who was horse racing's all-time leading money winner when he retired in 1985, suffered from kidney problems. The two-time Horse of the Year will be buried at the Horse Park, where he has lived since the mid-1980s.

Motor racing - Nakajima replaces Wurz

Japan's Kazuki Nakajima will make his Formula One race debut for Williams in next week's season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix. Nakajima, son of former grand prix racer Satoru, replaces Alexander Wurz who announced his retirement after Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix. The 22-year-old Japanese driver, rookie of the year in this year's GP2 support series, has been Williams's test and reserve driver this year and has taken part in Friday practice at five races.
